Welcome!
My name is Mendel Kaelen, Founder and CEO of Wavepaths. I’m delighted to welcome you to our community of Wavepaths practitioners.
Wavepaths is an intelligent music system that generates unique music and offers evidence-based personalisation. It was developed based on the insights gained from the research I conducted into the therapeutic use of music within psychedelic therapy, whilst studying for my PhD at Imperial College London.
Some of the key insights I gained through my research were:
- Music plays a central therapeutic role in Psychedelic Therapy but there is limited expertise amongst therapists in how best to leverage its impact
- Whether music personally resonates with the patient is a better predictor of therapeutic outcome in psychedelic therapy than drug intensity
- Brain-activity in response to the timbral properties of music gives insight in how music adaptation can improve therapeutic outcomes for patients
- Existing music solutions for psychedelic therapy have several limitations, for example lack of real time adaptability to patient subjective experience
Wavepaths has been created with these insights in mind, to provide a therapeutic tool that creates adaptive person-centred music that can be controlled in real time.
We work with award winning artists to create musical elements and compositions made from an awareness for the profound potential that psychedelic states of consciousness, and the care needed for patients that find themselves in these states. These elements are then intelligently adapted and combined by our tool based on specific therapeutic functions and the needs of you and your clients.

Please read the guide in full before starting your first session, as this will help you understand how Wavepaths works. Many of the resources in this guide are also hosted on our Community Platform, so you can access them easily via your internet browser.
